Grade 3 PE & Health
This curriculum integrates physical literacy with holistic health education to support student development. Students explore movement patterns, social-emotional skills, and personal wellness through collaborative play and self-reflection.

Mastering Movement and Body Control
Students develop fundamental movement skills and spatial awareness through locomotor and non-locomotor activities. Emphasis is placed on balance, coordination, and the mechanics of movement.
Learning to move safely in personal and general space while respecting the boundaries of others.
Developing proficiency in skipping, galloping, leaping, and transitioning between different speeds.
Exploring static and dynamic balance using different bases of support and center of gravity concepts.

Teamwork and Fair Play
Students engage in cooperative games and introductory sports to build social skills and strategic thinking. This unit focuses on communication, inclusion, and following rules.
Working together to achieve common goals in low-organization games and challenges.
Understanding the importance of rules, honesty, and sportsmanship in competitive and recreational play.
Learning basic offensive and defensive concepts such as moving to open space and guarding an opponent.

Fueling and Caring for the Body
An exploration of nutrition, hydration, and personal hygiene practices that support long term health. Students analyze how daily choices impact their energy levels.
Identifying food groups and understanding how a variety of foods provide energy for growth and play.
Discussing the role of water in the body and the effects of sugar-sweetened beverages.
Understanding how handwashing and dental care prevent the spread of illness and maintain health.

Healthy Minds and Strong Hearts
Focusing on mental health literacy, emotional regulation, and building positive relationships. Students learn to identify feelings and practice stress-management techniques.
Building a vocabulary for feelings and learning healthy ways to express them to others.
Practicing breathing exercises and mindfulness to manage daily stressors and improve focus.
Exploring the qualities of a good friend and how to resolve conflicts peacefully.

Safety and Injury Prevention
Students learn to identify risks in their environment and develop habits that prevent injuries at home, school, and in the community.
Learning about road safety, bicycle safety, and the importance of protective gear.
Understanding how to respond to emergencies and the importance of knowing basic first aid.
Exploring safe practices when using technology and the importance of balancing screen time with activity.
