Senior Infants Foundations of Literacy and Expression
This course develops oral language, phonological awareness, and early writing skills through immersive storytelling and play based learning. Students explore the relationship between sounds and symbols while building the confidence to communicate their own ideas and interpretations of texts.

The Power of Oral Language
Focuses on developing listening skills and the ability to express thoughts, feelings, and experiences clearly.
Students practice narrative retelling and personal sharing to build confidence in public speaking.
Developing the ability to follow multi step instructions and respond to the ideas of others.
Exploring new words through rhymes, songs, and categorisation activities.

Cracking the Code
Building phonological awareness and early decoding skills to transition from pre reading to independent reading.
Identifying and manipulating sounds within words to build a foundation for phonics.
Learning to push sounds together to read words and pull them apart to spell them.
Recognising common sight words to increase reading fluency and confidence.

Exploring Texts and Meaning
Engaging with different genres of literature to develop comprehension and critical thinking.
Using picture cues and prior knowledge to guess what happens next in a story.
Analysing the people and places in stories to understand narrative structure.
Learning how to find facts and navigate non fiction books.

Becoming Authors
Moving from mark making to emergent writing, focusing on purpose and audience.
Exploring different types of writing such as lists, cards, and short messages.
Learning to organize thoughts into simple written sentences with spaces and punctuation.
Using imagination to create original stories and illustrations.
