Watch Out for These Misconceptions

  • Social harmony means everyone must agree on everything.

    Harmony is about respecting differences and managing disagreements peacefully, not total consensus. Role-playing difficult conversations helps students learn how to 'agree to disagree' while maintaining mutual respect.

  • Racial harmony is the government's job alone.

    Individual actions and daily interactions are what truly sustain harmony. Discussing real-life examples of 'everyday racism' and how to stand up against it helps students see their personal role in integration.
