This course introduces young learners to the foundational elements of visual and performing arts through sensory exploration and playful experimentation. Students develop visual literacy and self expression by engaging with diverse media and responding to artistic works in the Singaporean context.

Lines, Shapes, and My World
Students explore how basic geometric and organic shapes combine with different line types to create images of their immediate environment.
Investigating how different types of lines like wavy, zigzag, and thick lines can show movement and feeling.
Identifying geometric shapes in everyday objects and using them to construct complex drawings.

The Magic of Color and Texture
An introduction to color mixing and the tactile qualities of various art materials to evoke emotions.
Discovering the three primary colors and the wonder of creating new secondary colors through painting.
Exploring visual and tactile texture by using different tools and found materials in art making.

Rhythm and Movement
Students explore the relationship between sound and physical expression through basic music and dance concepts.
Learning to identify and maintain a steady pulse through body percussion and simple instruments.
Using creative dance to mimic the movements of animals, plants, and weather patterns.

Stories on Stage
Developing confidence and empathy through dramatic play and character exploration.
Using voice, facial expressions, and posture to portray different characters from local folktales.
Using simple objects to represent different things and setting the scene for a performance.

Looking at Art Together
Building visual literacy skills by observing, describing, and interpreting artworks from Singapore and beyond.
Practicing objective observation skills using the 'See, Think, Wonder' routine with famous paintings.
Learning about local Singaporean artists and the stories they tell about our community.

The Grand Showcase
A culminating unit where students select, refine, and present their work to an audience.
Reflecting on personal progress and selecting pieces for a portfolio or class gallery.
Collaborating to organize an art exhibition or a short performance for peers and family.
