Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) for 6th Class fosters children's well-being, self-confidence, and sense of belonging. It equips them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to make informed decisions about their health, personal lives, and social interactions as they prepare for the transition to post-primary school.

01Myself: Self-Identity and Well-being
This unit focuses on developing self-awareness, building self-esteem, and understanding how to manage emotions and make responsible decisions.
Exploring personal strengths, talents, and areas for growth to build a positive self-image. Pupils learn to appreciate their own uniqueness and the value they bring to their communities.
Identifying complex emotions and learning healthy strategies to express and manage them. Pupils discuss how to cope with stress and support others who are upset.
Understanding the decision-making process and setting realistic personal and academic goals. Pupils reflect on how their choices impact themselves and those around them.

02Myself: Growing, Changing and Keeping Safe
This unit addresses the physical and emotional changes of puberty, personal safety, and the importance of healthy lifestyle choices.

Identifying risky situations and knowing how to protect oneself and seek help. Pupils review safety rules for various environments, including the community and online.

03Myself and Others: Relationships and Communication
This unit explores family dynamics, the complexities of friendships, and strategies for resolving conflicts with empathy.
Recognizing the different types of families and the roles, responsibilities, and support systems within them. Pupils discuss how families adapt to changes and challenges.
