2nd Class Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE).
Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) provides opportunities to foster the personal development, health, and well-being of the child. In Second Class, children explore their own growth, relationships with others, and their active role in the wider community.

01Myself: Self-Identity and Growth
Children explore their unique traits, recognise their feelings, and understand how they grow and change physically and emotionally.
Children identify their personal characteristics, talents, and what makes them unique individuals.
Children learn to name, express, and cope with a variety of emotions in a healthy and safe way.
Children recognise the physical and emotional changes that happen as they grow older and take on new responsibilities.

02Myself: Health and Well-being
This unit focuses on personal hygiene, healthy eating, and understanding how to stay safe in various everyday situations.
Children explore the food pyramid and the importance of personal hygiene for staying healthy and preventing illness.
Children identify potential hazards in their environment and learn essential safety rules to protect themselves.
Children practice making simple choices that protect their health and well-being, including knowing when to say no.

03Myself and Others: Relationships
Children examine their roles within their families, learn how to be a good friend, and practice resolving minor conflicts.
Children discuss different types of families and how family members care for, support, and respect one another.
Children explore the qualities of a good friend, the importance of inclusion, and how to show empathy.
Children learn simple, constructive strategies for dealing with disagreements, managing anger, and saying sorry.

04Myself and the Wider World: Community and Environment
Children develop an awareness of their local community, the media they consume, and how to care for the natural environment.
Children identify the different groups they belong to and recognise the people who help and work in the local community.
Children begin to explore different types of media and understand how advertising can influence their choices and desires.
Children learn about the importance of protecting their local environment through recycling, reducing waste, and respecting nature.
