Senior Infants Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE).
The Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum for Senior Infants fosters children's well-being, self-confidence, and sense of belonging. It provides a foundation for developing healthy relationships, personal safety skills, and an early understanding of citizenship within their local environment.

01Myself: Self-Identity and Self-Awareness
This unit focuses on helping children recognize their unique qualities, understand their emotions, and appreciate how they grow and change.
Exploring personal identity, physical traits, and individual preferences. Recognizing that everyone is unique and special.
Identifying and naming different feelings. Learning how to express emotions in a safe and healthy way.
Understanding how the body grows and changes over time. Recognizing new skills developed since Junior Infants.

02Myself: Health and Well-being
Children learn the fundamentals of taking care of their bodies through healthy eating, personal hygiene, and safety awareness.
Discovering the importance of a balanced diet for growth and energy. Identifying healthy snacks and meals.
Learning daily routines for keeping the body clean and healthy. Understanding the importance of handwashing and dental care.
Identifying potential dangers at home, in school, and on the road. Learning rules to stay safe in different situations.

03Myself and Others: Relationships and Communication
This unit explores the importance of family and friends, focusing on positive communication, sharing, and resolving simple conflicts.
Exploring different types of families and the roles of family members. Celebrating the care and support families provide.
Understanding what makes a good friend and how to build positive relationships. Learning to share, take turns, and include others.
Developing simple strategies for dealing with disagreements. Learning to say sorry and forgive others.

04Myself and the Wider World: Developing Citizenship
Children are introduced to their role in the school community, environmental care, and basic media awareness.
Recognizing the different people who work in the school and how they help. Understanding classroom rules and responsibilities.
Learning about the importance of looking after the local environment. Exploring simple ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Beginning to explore the role of media and technology in daily life. Differentiating between real life and what is seen on screens.
