Year 2 HPE
A comprehensive Health and Physical Education program for Year 2 students focusing on fundamental movement skills, personal identity, and safety. Students develop social and emotional skills while building the physical foundations for lifelong wellness.

Mastering My Movement
Students explore fundamental movement skills through locomotor and non-locomotor activities. They learn to control their bodies in different spaces and at varying speeds.
Developing static and dynamic balance using different body parts and equipment.
Refining hopping, skipping, jumping, and galloping in various directions.
Understanding personal space and general space while moving safely around others.

Healthy Body, Happy Mind
Students investigate how nutrition, physical activity, and sleep contribute to overall health and wellbeing.
Identifying different food groups and the benefits of eating a variety of colorful foods.
Exploring why the body needs sleep and quiet time to recover from daily activities.
Recognizing the different ways we can be active at home, at school, and in the community.

Games and Fair Play
Focusing on teamwork, following rules, and developing basic offensive and defensive strategies in minor games.
Practicing communication and cooperation to achieve a common goal in group challenges.
Understanding why rules exist and how they make play safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Learning basic tactical awareness by moving into space to receive a pass or defend a goal.

Feelings and Friendships
Developing emotional literacy and social skills to build positive relationships and manage conflicts.
Identifying a range of emotions and the physical sensations that accompany them.
Exploring the qualities of a positive friendship and how to include others in play.
Learning simple conflict resolution strategies like using 'I' messages and compromising.

Safety First
