My Neighbourhood and Home
Exploring the immediate environment of the HDB estate, local amenities, and the importance of home safety.
Pupils identify important places in their neighbourhood: the market, playground, community centre, and places of worship.
Understanding the unique features of Singapore's public housing and shared facilities like void decks and lift lobbies.
Pupils learn about the different ways people travel in Singapore: walking, buses, MRT, and taxis.
Exploring green spaces and their role in providing recreation and fresh air for residents.
Learning about the heart of Singaporean food culture and the diversity of dishes available.

People Who Help Us
Recognizing the various professionals and volunteers who contribute to the safety and well-being of the community.
Pupils identify community helpers, including police officers, firefighters, doctors, and nurses, and learn what each person does.
Focusing on doctors, nurses, and pharmacists who keep us healthy and treat us when we are sick.
Understanding the roles of the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
Learning about cleaners and waste collectors who work hard to keep Singapore clean and green.
Identifying the staff in school who support learning and safety, such as the principal, janitors, and security guards.
Pupils learn that community helpers often work as a team. For example, police, ambulance, and firefighters respond together in an emergency.
Pupils learn about showing appreciation to the people who help us, and how small acts of gratitude make a difference.
Learning about people who help for free to make the community better, such as at animal shelters or food banks.

Being a Good Citizen
Developing social responsibility, understanding rules, and practicing consideration for others.
Pupils learn that rules help us live together safely and fairly, at school, at home, and in the community.
Pupils explore what it means to be considerate, thinking about how our actions affect others and being thoughtful in public spaces.
Pupils learn about shared spaces in Singapore, including HDB corridors, playgrounds, and parks, and how everyone has a part to play in keeping them pleasant.
Learning why telling the truth and being honest is vital for a trusting community.
Understanding fairness in games, in the classroom, and when sharing resources with friends.
Small acts of kindness that build a strong spirit of neighborliness (Kampong Spirit).

Our Diverse Cultures
Introduction to the major ethnic groups in Singapore and their unique traditions, food, and clothing.
